If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about beer, Lenoir Community College is offering a class that will fit your interest. The All About Beer class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays for eight weeks beginning Sept. 14 in Room 150 of the Bullock Building for the first night, and at other times at Mother Earth Brewery in downtown Kinston.

Head Brewer of Mother Earth Josh D. Brewer will teach the class. All students must be 21 years of age to enroll. Identification will be checked. Cost of the class is $50.

Class participants will discover how beer is made, explore beer styles, learn the basics of home brewing, and come to understand the uniqueness of craft beer and its history. You’ll also get tips on cooking with beer, and pairing beer with food.

The All About Beer class will allow you to explore our local brewery, and study beer styles through a sampling lead by its head brewer. The class culminates with a documentary about the craft beer industry, followed by a cheese and beer pairing and discussion of the film.
